Meditation for sitting with hurt

A meditation for sitting with hurt

Find a space in which you find comfort in even when you are feeling feelings of hurt and suffering  - if you don’t have such a place my suggestion is to settle on your bed or in a room where you can have some cushions and light a candle or have low lighting.

Now lie down and totally feel the connection of your back against the surface. Feel the gentle rise and fall of your body as your breathe in and out.

Close your eyes and settle even further now into this gentle feeling of the airiness of your breathe the light touch of the air as it passes in and out of you and feel the calmness which is starting to enter into your body and mind as you allow it to rest.

As you lie there in this restful state begin to look for the area in your body which suffers the most from the hurt. Then begin to just look at this area making notes of what it looks like, feels like, sounds like. Ask the hurt what it needs. Ask it what it is here to teach you at this moment in time.

As you listen in to what it needs and what it is teaching you observe how much easier it is for your body to accept the hurt for what it is and then like a ripple of water in a beautiful ocean being to wash the hurt wash it in which ever way is best for you perhaps washing it with colours or with love or with vigour whatever way is best for you.

Folding finally the last parts neatly away become aware again of your breathe and of your skin resting on the surface wherever you are in the room and gently stretch your body, your hands, your feet lengthening away from you as you slowly open your eyes only as quickly as you need to coming back into your body feeling a new sense of calm and gentle support for yourself.

Drink sips of water after this meditation and trust that your body knows what it needs. If you need to sleep, sleep the power of the healing comes when you are most rested.
