Where did it all begin? Inviting you in to a series of 5 blogs that are a delicious result of a 5 day writing challenge `I joined with the Unbound Press 1-5th August 2022 leading up to my 42nd birthday.

So much power in writing our own story

I was born screaming: Tinkering on the ivories. Feet swinging far from the floor. This little girl’s eyes were ablaze at the notes coming alive on the stave.

Before this, though I may have been playing in the snow

I could have been running wild and free

Or hurting inside because no one would listen to me

After 7 not pm or am. After 7 I became 8 just as you did too femme or fellow being.

After 8 I turned 9 just as you did then after 9, 10 then 11.

At 11 when others were consuming music in their ears Natalie (hello that’s my name - nice to meet you beautiful one) burst it from her. Music burst out of her throat. Piercing the ear of anyone who was near.

ALIVE

This is a language I knew. So REAL and so true. You like it or not? You turn it down or turn it up. Off or on. I liked this because you know where you are then.

No fannying around (that’s what my Mum, Sue would say it’s not a word and there are no perfect commas here but I don’t care…Sue makes words up and I love her for that.

The mother the one who screamed you out so LOUD.

PPPPPUUUUSSSHHHing you out of a tunnel of blood and intelligence

As you came out screaming you both met screaming…

That’s how the singing felt to me. LOUD. Natalie how does such a big voice come from someone so little?

That’s what so many of you have asked me.

You want to know.

Because I was born to scream. Delicious notes of conflict, that clash with your very conformed ideals, jarring sounds of sustenance into your ears.

So that’s how it started.

From playing the piano to singing to taking a degree in music to singing for a career to hiding in the wings my own beautiful wings as I became feathers of hope for you all to hear.

I am out now.

And the sounds of the centuries, heavens, galactic worlds, angels, martyrs, witches, and light leaders, move through me. As I sing you into alignment.
